Started by Joe Saradar in 1962, this
initiative has expanded over the years, to reach a broad range
of individuals and social organisations alike.
Through the Access to Education and Health Programme (AEHP),
the foundation provides financial grants to disadvantaged
persons thus facilitating their access to:
health care and medical treatment for those not covered by the
social security fund
education (scholarships), at a time when school and university
tuitions are becoming prohibitively expensive
The first mission of ‘Fondation Saradar’ remains the financial
aid to colleagues of ‘Saradar Group’, whether they are active or
retired. From January 2002 to December 2004, this solidarity
fund, supported by ‘Banque Saradar’ and the memberships of
colleagues, has granted assistance to 76 active members of the
Group and to 24 retired, covering medical and dental expenses,
as well as school tuitions.
On the other hand, and thanks to the Bank’s long tradition of
social engagement, ‘Banque Saradar’ provided, through the
foundation, financial aid to several civil society and charity
associations to support their humanitarian activities, based on
project documents submitted to ‘Fondation Saradar’.
FORTY YEARS: A
HISTORY OF ASSISTANCE AND SOLIDARITY
1962, the start of social involvement by a financial
institution 2002, renewing the bonds of solidarity: a new
challenge
Banque Saradar sal. and Fondation Saradar wish to celebrate with
members of Groupe Saradar the fortieth anniversary of this
undertaking.
This project of support and assistance to members of the group
has evolved over the years, to become an expression of
institutional commitment, enhancing cohesion and solidarity
within Groupe Saradar. Launched as a personal initiative, this
commitment is perpetuated today, through a financial aid
programme funded by Banque Saradar sal.
Since February 2002, and thanks to the direct participation of
the staff themselves to what has now become a collective fund,
this enterprise has taken on a new significance and contributed
to a renewed and reinforced sense of solidarity.
On this occasion, Banque Saradar sal. and Fondation Saradar wish
to express their deep gratitude to all the members of the group
for their support and their adherence to this project of mutual
assistance, thus contributing to the well-being of each and
every one within our large family.

The Access to Information and Training
Programme (AITP) provides underprivileged social groups with
the opportunity to be exposed to information technology (IT) and
to develop electronic skills.
On July 10, 2002, Fondation Saradar launches a pilot project
entitled Saradar IT Programme® a unique
initiative of its kind. Indeed, for the first time in Lebanon,
an ICT capacity-building project proposes to meet people in
their regions. Training will be ensured to displaced persons in
a mobile school, a caravan, tailored and built as a classroom
and furnished with the necessary equipment to accommodate
students of all ages, particularly children and women.
